When commissioning the talented Jimmy [link] for this piece - [link] - I paid a bit extra to get him to come up with a concept design for the Vanguard. He asked for a bit of leeway with the design and other than the basic anatomy he got it, coming up with that rather fantastic head design and the flattened looking tail.

He really brought out the demonic aspect to the Vanguard - they were never really supposed to look entirely like reptiles, but something more, well, demon-like.

Anyway, fantastic take on them - and Hunts' looked magnificent in the final picture. That datapad design also looked kinda spiffy
